How to use our infrastructure
Not all courses in Balsthal and Lungern are offered by the International Fire Academy or the Intercantonal Fire Service Training Centre. Different organizers use the infrastructure for courses, drills, tests and their development work. We often additionally support them with professional know-how, provide instructors and technicians or organize behind the scenes.
Courses of authorities
There are different models for training firefighters provided by external organizers. For example, the fire service inspectorates of the cantons of Solothurn and Beider Basel, as well as national fire service organisations in Switzerland, use our infrastructure for fire service courses under their own responsibility. Fire service schools from abroad, such as the Baden-Württemberg State Fire School, advertise tunnel courses for multipliers. These are then carried out by the International Fire Academy. The two examples illustrate the spectrum of possible cooperations.

It is also possible to test special equipment such as firefighting support vehicles or large fans under realistic conditions and to practice their use. Tunnel fire services in particular benefit from this offer. Fire services, for example, bring their rebreathers with them in order to be able to practice with them under close-to-use conditions. The Tactics Centre, on the other hand, is in demand when it comes to developing and reviewing complex operational concepts.
Handling of fire extinguishers
Various organizations - even without a fire service background - have their staff trained in handling portable fire extinguishers. The fire extinguishing platform offers ideal conditions for this.
